History of the Board of Elections

The Upson County Board of Elections was established June 12, 2003 by the Upson County Board of Commissioners.  The Elections Board held its first meeting on July 14, 2003 in the Upson County courthouse.  The following people were sworn in as members of the board by Probate Judge Gary Hamby:

Robert Haney

June Hardy

Gene Johnson

Kay King

Dana York

 

At the first meeting, the board elected Norma Hodge as Elections Supervisor, Robert Haney as Chairman of the Board, Dana York as Assistant Chairman, and Kay King as Secretary.

 

The Board members serve four year terms that are staggered.  The current board members are as follows:

 

Norma Hodge - Elections Supervisor

Robert Haney - Chairman

Morris Albritton - Assistant Chairman

Audrey Gooch - Secretary

Janice Bennett

Kay King

 

*Note - The Elections supervisor serves as a non-voting member of the board and is the Supervisor of the Registrar's Office.
